Aspinal of London SS16 campaign shoot

Last December I, along with a fantastic team of talented people, had the privilege of styling the Aspinal of London SS16 campaign & lookbook. For anyone unfamiliar with the brand, Aspinal make beautiful luxury leather and exotic skin handbags in all manner of styles from totes to mini trunks and saddle bags to clutches. They are a celebrity favourite, with style icons such as The Duchess of Cambridge, Fearne Cotton, Donna Air and Laura Whitmore all a fan of their bags.

The quality is fantastic, the colours superb and the range is perfect for anything from work to a glamorous night out. Here are some of the images from the Spring Summer 2016 lookbook (as styled by me). This season they drew inspiration from classic English gardens, featuring pretty florals, vibrant colours and botanical prints. Be prepared for some serious lusting…

Of course as well as me there was a whole fabulous team on hand to make these bags looks superb. Photographer Clara Copley and I have worked together before on several editorial shoots and she did a superb job of capturing the many looks on this two day shoot.

Our delightful model Joanna Stubbs is an Aspinal stalwart having been the face of several of their campaigns. Hair stylist Julie Read is a genius with a set of tongs and ensured that Joanna’s locks were super glam at all times. Make-up artist Salina Thind, a whizz with an eye-shadow brush created pretty, sophisticated looks that every woman dreams of.

Marco from Aspinal Head Office was Art Directing the shoot, and along with Sara and Ashley made sure all the bags were photographed, as well as assisting Joanna with the unenviable task of making the ‘triple handbag look’ appear natural! And lastly thanks to my wonderful assistant Rebbeca Davies who helped me to steam, hang, pin and clip all the clothes that accompanied the handbags. We shot 9 outfits in total and numerous bag combinations. Here are a few behind the scenes shots…

This stand-out lace dress from Self-Portrait was also another favourite and a great accompaniment to this colourful duffle bag.

If I were to choose one style it would have to be the stunning Mini Trunk Clutch which comes in a range of colours and has superb metal detailing. A cute spin on a traditional English travel trunk.

Street style snap

I have just discovered that last month I appeared on www.ElleUK.com in the street style section (yay!). Above is the featured image and a couple of the pieces I was wearing. I love a print and here have opted to clash bright florals and monochrome zebra. The Urban Classics baseball jacket is a recent wardrobe addition, influenced by my styling work for Ashley Banjo’s Secret Street Crew (Sky 1). I am a fan of the lack of branding on this jacket and it also comes in a huge range of colours for those that prefer a bolder option. The sunnies are by Jeepers Peepers and always attract attention. These are a few years old, but the label is currently selling its vintage-inspired designs on www.ASOS.com and www.jeeperspeepers.co.uk (as spotted on Fearne Cotton and Denise van Outen). At £16 a pair they’re a real statement bargain.

Jacket, Urban Classics; Floral top, Dorothy Perkins; Zebra print trousers, H&M; Sunglasses, Jeepers Peepers; Yellow bag, NW3.
