Tricol-Ora

Having spent some time poring over pics of the celebs at this year’s Glastofest I have discovered the following… Festival dressing is mainly predictable, relatively dark in colour & predominantly practical (except Kate Moss in her 4 inch boots, obvs). I have also concluded that this year the printed bomber vied for supremacy with the ubiquitous Barbour jacket, & that you can never have too many Hunter wellies in one field.

Oh, and my final conclusion is that Rita Ora totally topped the style stakes at Glasto 2013, as the above trio of outfits kindly demonstrates. Rocking head-to-toe lilac with a crop top; a super-chic calf length dress with cat-eye sunnies; & a crazy fringed scarlet stage number, the London gal covers the key trends in one glorious street-meets-glam mix. Fabulous!

Private styling session

Last week I did my first private personal styling session. Despite working for many years as a professional stylist for TV & editorial, I have never offered this service before.

My first client was the lovely Susy, a self-confessed shopaholic who felt she never looked polished or put together. After a quick wardrobe edit I realised the problem lay with her lack of accessories & her love of simple easy-to-wear dresses. The brief was outfits for work & play, with the ideal being office-to-evening looks in bold colours. After a busy 6 hours of shopping, Susy came away with numerous separates that could all be interspersed – the ultimate capsule wardrobe. I even tempted her into several prints (something that didn’t feature heavily in her existing wardrobe), which worked brilliantly with all the bold blouses & silk tees we picked up. Above are only a couple of the outfits – there were over 10 in total. I think you’ll agree she looks fab.

Culinary delights

If you obsess over recipes and have been Instagramming your favourite meals for the past 6 months, then head to Regent’s Park, the location for Taste of London 2013. Opening today, this 4 day gourmet festival sees world famous chefs and restaurants come together under one hypothetical roof.

Covering all things London, whilst spanning the continent, the event brings together the likes of Italian Antonio Carluccio, French Raymond Blanc, British Gary Rhodes & the lovely Michel Roux Jnr, as well as numerous other Michelin starred chefs. For its 10 year anniversary, and for the first time, they have added a bandstand featuring musical entertainment so you’ll be serenaded as you sample. Coincidentally, it is also 10 years since the infamous Jamie Oliver – the TV chef equivalent of Marmite – received his MBE. And 15 years since The Naked Chef launched on our screens and changed the face of cooking as we know it. With more food focused blogs, websites & TV shows than ever before, this festival has been deemed the Glastonbury of the culinary world. Get there and get tasting.
